Larkspur has a little bit of everything that makes it a great place to live: a central Marin location with easy access to Highway 101, a charming downtown, great schools, a vibrant shopping center, and some of the most beautiful hiking and bicycling in Marin. Downtown Larkspur is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a typical turn-of-the-century town. Its very walkable Main Street includes unique shops and fine restaurants – many are housed in Victorian buildings. The art deco Lark Theater Movie Theater and café Emporio Rulli are regular meeting place for locals. On the east side of Highway 101, Larkspur Landing is home to the Golden Gate Ferry, which makes regular trips into San Francisco. The ride offers spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Angel Island and is a favorite of both locals and tourists. Marin Country Mart at Larkspur Landing is an open air shopping and dining destination with a wide variety of shops, farm-to-table eateries and a weekly farmers market.

In summer, Marin Country Mart hosts numerous events, including a Friday night Jazz series. Friends and families gather around picnic tables with a grab and go dinner to take in an evening of music. Larkspur residents have many opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. The Larkspur and Corte Madera Creek paths run on a former railroad right-of-way and are popular with walkers, dog walkers, and bikers. Baltimore Canyon, at the headwaters of Larkspur Creek, encompasses a lovely canyon filled with stately redwood trees and a spectacular waterfall. Because Larkspur spans from the foot of Mount Tamalpais to San Francisco Bay, real estate includes both spacious homes built into redwood-lined canyons as well as condos with spectacular water views.
